Fresh Hair Cut

 Fresh Hair Cut

I've cut my own hair for over 20 years. Back in high school a good friend cut my hair. As I got a little older and when he wasn't available I learned to cut it myself.

But more recently I decided to try out a barber shop just to see how it would go. In my past experience going anywhere ( other than 1 or 2 times ) it turned out much worse than cutting my own hair.

Ah and I just remembered another friend who was also my neighbor (apartments) that used to cut my hair. He did a great job but we didn't live close very long.

I must of lucked out on my trial at the barber shop because I got the best barber ever!!! However it does suck that I'm going bald..but either way it was really nice to find a great barber that I will go to as long as possible.

Now I really enjoy going to get my hair cut verses dreading it. He is also knowledgeable about hair in general and recommended moisture rich shampoo and conditioner as well as rinsing the conditioner in cold water. That has helped my dandruff/dry scalp. Prior to that knowledge I tried various dandruff shampoo's and even medication from dermatologist. For me the moisturizing shampoo and conditioner works the best.

I never knew I would find such a great barber. But also thanks to my amigos for cutting hair all those other times.

Vegan Banana Oatmeal Pancakes

 Vegan Banana Oatmeal Pancakes

I got this recipe from: healthiersteps.com

I just simplified the blog and the ingredients as well as doubling them.

Ingredients: Makes about 12 pancakes

  • 2 cups  rolled oats
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • coconut oil or whatever nonstick item you have for cooking
  • maple syrup, your favorite toppings e.g., fresh fruits, nut butter or jam

Instructions
  1. Place all the ingredients in a blender, roll oats, almond milk, banana, vanilla, baking powder, salt. Process until completely smooth.
  2. Apply oil/spray/butter in a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add batter and cook until edges are golden brown, about 2-3 minutes, flip the pancake and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Repeat until batter is all gone.
  3. Serve topped with maple syrup and fruits or whatever you'd like

It's not too late to start over again

It's not too late to start over again

It's been over a year since I've been on a real mountain bike ride. I didn't think I was going to make it back to the parking lot, but I did.

I rode the loop clockwise and realized I've been doing wrong all along. I wondered how in the world I rode it in this direction a couple of years ago! Man I must of been in some pretty good shape. Either way I'm riding it counter clockwise next time.

Moral of this story is it's never too late to start over again, especially if it's a good habit. Though it can be challenging it's usually worth the effort. In these trying times it's important to practice good habits.

It also felt as if my bike was going to buck me off every time I went over a bump, rock, or mostly roots. So it's time to either get a new bike or some tweaking. I probably just need a new bike. Maybe Santa will bring it to me.

Ok, scratch that, Santa ain't gonna bring it to me.. He's got 6 kids in my house to bring presents to.

I thought I'd post this before I went out and rode again. Well that's not the case I rode again today counter clockwise, it was still challenging but not as challenging. Oh and if you are wondering where I rode, Cochran Mill Park in Chattahoochee Hills, Ga. Happy trails and Happy Thanksgiving.
